Junior women – Sunday opening groups

The first group on Sunday featured three junior women’s categories.

Junior Women 63 kg
Inka Tiainen of Finland impressed with 88 kg in the snatch and 108 kg in the clean & jerk. She attempted 116 kg on her final clean & jerk but missed, finishing with a total of 196 kg. Finland also secured bronze through Maikki Laine with 146 kg, while Denmark claimed silver thanks to Ida Caroline Mørck’s 166 kg.

Junior Women 69 kg
Finland’s Kaisa Rautio dominated the 69 kg category from the start, establishing her victory with three successful snatches of 81, 83, and 85 kg. Her teammate Gerta Jürgenson opened with 82 kg in the snatch, then missed her next two attempts as well as her first two clean & jerks. Under pressure, she managed 97 kg in her final clean & jerk, securing a total of 179 kg and the silver medal. Kaisa continued her strong performance in the clean & jerk with 104 and 108 kg before missing 110 kg, finishing with 193 kg. Danish lifter Mathilde Viernfeldt Toft claimed bronze with 169 kg.

Junior Women 86 kg
Sweden’s Fanny Köhler delivered a thrilling performance with six successful lifts and several personal bests. She went three-for-three in the snatch with 82, 85, and 88 kg, followed by three clean & jerks, topping out at 106 kg for a total of 194 kg. Norway’s Hedda Øverli trailed Köhler by five kilos after the snatch but produced a strong clean & jerk series, finishing with 112 kg. Her total of 195 kg earned Norway the gold. The bronze medal, like the silver, went to a Swedish lifter Ida Melin Sjö.
