Minni Hormavirta breaks Nordic youth records in spectacular 77 kg performance

Finland’s Minni Hormavirta dominated the 77 kg class with record-breaking lifts, finishing far ahead of the competition. The youth girls’ 69, 77 and +77 kg categories showcased dominant winners, record-breaking lifts and multiple home medals for Sweden.

Girls Youth – 69 kg
Denmark’s Leyla Muratov built her victory in the 69 kg category on a very strong snatch series, finishing with 80 kg. She then clean and jerked 87 kg to secure gold with a 167 kg total. Several lifters performed stronger in the clean and jerk, and the fight for silver came down to a close Swedish battle. Ester Burén edged ahead with 73–88, 161 kg, just one kilo above Amanda Ljunggren’s 71–89, 160 kg. Two Swedish medals in Halmstad.

Girls Youth – 77 kg
Minni Hormavirta, already a multiple European Championship medalist, delivered a commanding performance, opening with three outstanding snatches at 92, 96, and 100 kg—setting a Nordic youth record. Her clean and jerks were equally impressive: she made 119 kg, missed 125 kg on her second attempt, then completed 125 kg on her final lift. Her total of 225 kg was a Nordic youth record and an undisputed winning result.
In the shadow of Hormavirta’s dominance, Sweden’s Linnea Ekström produced a strong competition. Having previously lifted 75–98, 173 kg, she posted 75–97, 172 kg in Halmstad, showing potential for even higher numbers.

Girls Youth – +77 kg

Sweden’s Elsa Eichholzer won gold after a solid performance very close to her personal best. Her top numbers are 74–97, 171 kg, and at this major competition she delivered 72–98, 170 kg. Behind her, Finland’s Filina Hietanen earned silver, while Iceland’s Hólmfríður Bjartmarsdóttir secured bronze.
