Swedish Weightlifting Federation, together with Eleiko, proudly hosts the Nordic Championships for Youth and Juniors on November 29-30 in Halmstad.
Ester Burén is one of Sweden’s 19 selected lifters competing in Halmstad.
The competitions begin at 10:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday and will take place right inside Eleiko’s warehouse, where lifters from Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands will compete for Nordic medals.
During the championship weekend, November 29-30, Eleiko will also open its popular Outlet Store to all visitors. The perfect opportunity to find great deals on equipment for your club or home gym. On-site, there will also be a lottery with prizes from Eleiko worth 10 000 SEK.
This event is part of a new concept where the Swedish Weightlifting Federation brings an international championship straight into the heart of Eleiko’s headquarters. When Sweden hosts the Nordic Championships, the ambition is to field a larger team, and this year the Swedish squad is strong, featuring 19 athletes,10 youth lifters and 9 juniors.
– Selecting 19 lifters allows us to motivate more athletes and coaches in the short term and strengthen our long-term development. Since the Youth and Junior Nordic Championships are often the first international experience for our lifters, it’s important to set ambitious goals already at this level, says Mats Lindqvist, Sports Director at the Swedish Weightlifting Federation.
– The competition will be tough, but we hope all Swedish lifters will set new personal bests and be in the mix for medals.
