19 APR 2019 19:54
A number of Nordic records were broken at the European Championships senior at Batumi. Here is a report by NTF General Secretary Trond Kvilhaug.

Please find attached the Nordic Records as per April 15. The Nordic standards are more and more replaced by athletes’ names and the following new records were established at the successful ECh in Batumi, Georgia recently:

·         55 kg Angelica Roos, SWE: Clean & Jerk 103 kg – Total 182 and 184 kg

·         76 kg Patricia Strenius, SWE: Clean & Jerk 132 kg – Total 233 kg

·         73 kg: Tim Kring, DEN: Snatch 138 kg - Clean & Jerk 169 kg – Total 303 and 307 kg

·         81 kg: Omed Alam, DEN: Snatch 142 kg and 145 kg – Total 319 kg

·         96 kg: Eero Retulainen, FIN: Total 338 kg

Omed Alam’s results are both junior and senior records, ending up with the same result in snatch (145 kg) as the former world star Russian lifter Apti Aukhadov. An almost unbelievable performance by a Nordic junior lifter!

Applause to all new record holders – and for many strong Nordic positions in the ECh 2019, culminating in bronze medals to Swedish Maria Åkerlund (71 kg) and Patricia Strenius (76 kg). Congratulations!

Please respond if some new records are missing.

Finally: Preparations to get Bronze level status for the Nordic Senior Championships at Vigrestad, Norway this autumn (Oct. 11 – 13) are so far on schedule.

Happy Easter & Best regards,

Trond Kvilhaug
