LANDSKRONA
Landskrona is a city in Scania, the southernmost part of Sweden, with around 27,000 inhabitants. It is seat of the Landskrona Municipality with 39,000 inhabitants.

In 1413 the town was granted town rights and the name Landskrona. The founder of the town, Eric of Pomerania, had great plans for Landskrona as a trade centre in Scania where all foreign trade would be concentrated.
Landskrona has since played an important part in the history of both Sweden and Denmark. 1658 Scania becomes Swedish.

The Citadellet castle was built during the reign of the Danish King Christian III 1549-1559. It was extended with ramparts, bastions and moats during the Swedish period after 1658 and today is regarded as one of the best preserved Nordic water fortresses. During the 1700's the intention was to build one of Sweden's largest fortresses which together with the island of Gråen would form Sweden's defences against Denmark.
