New records at first day
Today started the competitions at the European Junior
Championships in Landskrona. There was set new record already in the first group, women 48 kg. It was Saziye
Okur, Turkey, who set new records for Youth, 79 kg in Snatch, 97 kg in
Clean & Jerk and 176 kg total. |

Final entry to the European Weightlifting Junior
Championships
From Tuesday, July 28 to Saturday August 1 Europe's best juniors will compete in weightlifting in Landskrona, Sweden. Final notifications have now been received and we note that it will be the largest European
Weightlifting Championships ever in Scandinavia.
Three nations come with full team for both women and men, 15 pc. It is Poland, Russia
and Turkey. Bulgaria has notified 14 weightliftes, Spain and
Ukraine have 10 each. A total of 32 nations
have reported 182 lifters spread over 116 men and 66 women. Two more nations are represented by
officials or referees, a total of 34 nations.
Swedish Weightlifting Federation had some hopes that the notifications would be around 200 in total.
But some countries, including Greece, have withdrawn their notification.
One last chance to adjust the starting lists are at the Congress
at July 27.
Then you can not modify more.
The Congress will establishe the time
schedule, but already it can be said that it will be some long
days with up to five groups. Each group contains about 10 lifters. |
